in Assets 2 comments

Summary:

How to impair a non-depreciating intangible asset which does not have any depreciation reserve?

Content (required):

We have a few intangibles like Goodwill which are non-depreciating assets so there is no depreciation amount for such assets. After few period, we want to impair those assets so that the total cost flows to impairment accounts. When we tried impairment for the asset, we encountered error that:

"You can't perform impairment on asset XXXX because the asset was added without depreciation reserve and depreciation calculation was suspended."

How to impair such non-depreciating intangible assets?
