asset cost profile not autocreated for an item

Content (required):

i have created an inventory item, done miscellaneous receipt into subinventory, transferred inv txns to costing, and ran create cost accouting distributions job...but i see that, after all this, only expense cost profile got created for the item, using default cost profile, but asset cost profile is not created. I checked default cost profile and both asset and expense cost profiles are associated. does anyone know why?
