Payroll Time Card Approval :error Error in evaluating routing slip

Summary: We have a requirement wherein when an employee submits a timecard(payroll) for a specific period, first it goes to line manager for approval, once LM approves it goes to payroll Manager (Data Role).

 

We have configured Payroll Manager as a Data role inheriting the standard job role. When a line manager approves, instead of going to payroll manager (setup as an application role under approval rules) it is  erroring out with the following error message:

 

Error in evaluating routing slip. The task is assigned to an invalid application role {application_role_from fault_payload}.

 

Any help please?
