Is it possible to add a DFF to Adjust Units page/Asset assignments section?

We are trying to figure out if there is a way to add a DFF to be populated when adding new asset assignment lines (on Adjust Units page) and displayed on Assignments tab of the asset. These adjustments will need to be done after the asset has been posted to the register.

Otherwise, are there any recommendations/good practices for managing Land type of assets? It might happen often enough that we need to split a land asset into pieces to keep track of different "batches", so the total land value will not change but splitting it by assignments and attaching the specific batch to each under the same land might help with keeping track.
