HR Helpdesk and approvals

Is it possible to add an approval to a HR Helpdesk service request

We looking to use HR Helpdesk service requests for some of our forms (for actions that cannot be employee self-service or manager self-service) but still require an approval or at least some imput from an additional person - such as a line manager. consultants so far have said not possible - we can send notifications to a line manager - but they wouldn't be able to go in and update or add comments to the SR. Is that definitely the case?
