Discrepancy in date while updating marital status

Summary:

Hi all,

We are trying to add marital status for an employee and if we enter the relationship start date for a contact(Let's take spouse/wife as an example) and submitting the transaction, System is taking hire date as relationship start date automatically after submitting the transaction. Please help us on this

For example: Employee Hire date is 1/Jan/2021 and I add a contact for an employee and the if I enter the relationship start date as 1/Jan/2020 and I submit the transaction, the system is showing relationship start date as 1/Jan/2021 instead of 1/Jan/2020
