Time Stamp Difference function calculating with user prompted date value

Currently, I can successfully calculate years of service using CURRENT_DATE. Is there a way for the third variable in this function to be a date the user enters?

TIMESTAMPDIFF( SQL_TSI_DAY , Work Relationship Start Date, CURRENT_DATE )
