Short link to asset for download?

Summary:

We need to provide a short link to a asset which will be published in a printed document. How can we generate a keyboard friendly link to an asset?

The summary says it all. We provide documents to customers via widgets on our site however they all give documents a very long URL including a channel key, etc. Our goal is to shorten the URL as much as possible. What options are available via OCM to handle this?

We've considered bit.ly or others, however our customers are hesitant to input a URL with which they are not familliar.
