Official Community Approval - where is the notification?

I've requested to join an official community that is closed. This is now pending approval. The manager of the community sees that there is a join request when they go into the community member section and approve or decline. However, I was expecting a notification to the community manager.

Which approval workflow is it triggering? I can't see it anywhere in the Approval History section.
