Is it possible to correct the effective start date of an existing assignment layer?

For example: if i did transfer to employee but then he need stay in his department few more days, i cant correct the effective date of the transfer. the only option is to delete the layer and then create a new one.

For termination or hire it is possible to correct the effective date
