Tools to overcome unconstrained plan limitations

In a large mfg operation using unconstrained planning we see planned orders getting compressed and resources getting overloaded. Planners can look at exception messages and see what resources are getting overloaded and orders getting compressed but when the volume of data is very high we cannot expect planners to check resource capacity for each planned order before releasing it. What are some of the recommended practices being followed by users in situations where you have lot of planned orders with compression days and resources getting overloaded since it is not practical to expect planners to review each planned
