Best practice for Collection Job

What are the best practices related to scheduled jobs of Collection in OM. I ask this in context of Targeted vs Net change or Automatic selection in the Collection type parameter.

We've noticed that some times the item data does not sync if we have it running in Net Change mode. Please share your inputs in this regard.
