Can we enable Style Items for transactions ?

We have setup a separate Item Class for items which currently have SKU variants and the items which might need SKU variants in the future. Due to some rule numbering constraints, system is not allowing to save an item as a normal item with the Style Item checkbox unchecked, so to save a normal item in the same item class without generating any SKU variants as well the Style Item checkbox need to be kept as checked.

Can we use these items which do not have SKU variants but have the "Style Item Indicator" as "Yes" for transactions by setting the item structure type as standard and enabling all the transactions? Are there any other critical implications if we enable transactions for Style Items?
