This question centres around how Perpetual Average Cost behaves in Oracle. If 2 Cost Books using Perpetual Average Cost are associated with the same Cost Organisation and Inventory Orgs but are implemented at differing times, will the item costs always be different?


More specifically, we've implemented a new Cost Book associated with a Secondary Ledger.

Both the new Cost Book and the existing Cost Book (associated with the Primary Ledger) use Perpetual Average Cost.

We are noticing that the Perpetual Average Cost for items differ between the 2 Cost Books.

Is this because the Cost Books have gone live at different dates and therefore not all item cost related transactions are reflected in the new Cost Book?
