We need to know of any best practice or workaround to hide person number from the directory search page

Content (required):

We have a compliance requirement to hide person number from the directory completely. People shouldn't be able to view or search by employee ids(or; Person Number). Based on an enhancement introduced in 21D (https://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/tutorial/cloud/r13/wn/ghr/releases/21D/21D-hr-wn.htm#F19921 ), we can only make certain fields including 'person number' as 'search and display' or 'display only' using HCM design studio>Search Configuration.

However, we no longer have the ability to hide
