Specialization's Renewal: Any workaround to this scenario?

Specialization has no renewal option.

Content (required):

We have this scenario where a renewal option is required while working with a specialization, the same way we use it with courses and initiatives. E.g. Once the employee finishes his specialization, it needs to be re-taken in 2 years.

We know it is possible to achieve this by using initiatives, but we need to have all the courses/activities together as it happens with specializations.

Anyone in the room has worked with this scenario before? How did you achieve this?
