How to update parent in target VP via subscription

Content (required):

The source and target VPs (FCGL to Custom VP) have different structures so the subscription is unable to find the parent to submit the request. Tried using the expression in node type converter to derive a parent in the source name but didnt work. The subscription failed but unable to find out what in the subscription failed the logic or something else. Unable to find the error message for the failure.
