Is Item BOM section under Item Master a must-have for FTA Qualification?

There is an "Item BOM" section under Item Master. In case of FTA qualification for multi-level BOMs, is it mandatory to fill up those fields?

Item Structure gives a good mapping from BOM to Item Masters. But somehow I just noted the "Item BOM" section under Item Master, which doesn't seem to be mandatory even for multi-level BOMs during FTA qualification. But it is good to make sure with oracle product team here.
