I am thinking of defining planning attributes via the setup (Manage Planning Attributes) just to capture some additional pieces of information for an external forecast as required in our Business Case. The external forecast template has these planning attributes as columns and we are planning to use them to capture data which cannot be mapped with the standard forecast columns.

Business Case

Some of the operational attributes that I am plan to capture using these attributes is

1. The Date when the product is expected to be launched. This will help business users in calculating the Demand Due Date. This will help them in audit analysis later if the correct demand due date was calculated.
