OCI: OSMS Windows Update failed to check for updates with error 0x80240438

Symptoms

OSMS Windows Update failed to check for updates with error 0x80240438


Solution

1. Enable / Disable OSMS Agent at Cloud Console Dashboard:

  • Go to: Compute -> Instances -> <MyWindowsInstance> -> Oracle Cloud Agent
  • Toggle OS Management Service Agent option (on / off / on).

2. Restart OCAOSMS Service at Windows Level.

  • You can press Windows + X, followed by G to open "Computer Management"
  • Services and Applications -> Services -> Oracle Cloud Agent (Right click and select restart)
  • Make sure service is in "Running" Status.

3. Go back to Cloud Console Dashboard.

  • Compute -> Instances -> <MyWindowsInstance> -> Resources -> OS Management
