Can you assign a Course and the corresponding Offering to a Learner in Oracle?

Summary:

I've assigned an Offering to a group of Learners, as they needed to get a start on the learning ASAP. Because I want them to complete the Course in a year's time (a year from their last completion date), am I able to assign the Course to the same group of Learners to ensure 'validity' and 'future re-assignment' is in place after the completion of the Course.

If this is possible, do I assign the Offering first? Of does it not matter if I assign the Offering before the Course?
