How to create custom fields in Manage Department page and make it available in the assignment page?

Hello experts,

we are going to create a custom field in Manage Department page to be filled when creating departments.

Is there a way to create the same field in the employee assignment page which gets automatically filled when the HR enter a department? In other words the same fields should be available both in Manage Department page and Employee Assignment page as well (in this case it should be inherited what entered in the department page)

How could we achieve it? Any suggestions?
