Getting 2 FYIs when two different manger types assigned to the same person

An employee has two matrix managers. When the admin applies an absence on behalf of the employee where those two matrix manager types are assigned to the same person, the matrix manager receives two FYIs. In order to make it one, what approach can be taken?
