Summary of the question: How can the pricing engine be configured so that it only runs in commerce? This has been mostly achieved by adding conditions to the pricing profile that are dependent on commerce attributes. This solution addresses most use cases, except in an instance where the end user reconfigures a model but then clicks cancel. When a user clicks reconfigure, logic on the action will modify a commerce attribute so that the condition on the pricing profile is not met.
