Serial Number Tracking for Work Order, when the Serial Number is NOT tracked during Inbound.

Content (required):

Serial Number is NOT tracked during component inbound. However during Kitting/De-kitting Work Order, system needs the capability to track S/N for both before and after (both Component and Parent).

I went through the help content, it appears that system can only track the S/N after the work order is done. Is that correct understanding?
