Lost data when renaming members

Summary:

When member names are adjusted in EDMCS and pushed towards EPBCS, duplicate values are created (value on members with new name and members with the old name).

Content (required):

When member names are adjusted in EDMCS and an extract is pushed towards EPBCS, duplicate values are created (value on new member name and value on the old name).

This issue can be avoided by "clearing members" when importing. However, doing so the data that was connected to the old member gets erased. How can you avoid data loss and still be able to adjust member names in EDMCS?

To me it is hard to believe that you cannot make changes to metadata in a tool designed to maintain metadata without data being erased? What do I miss here? I there a workaround to overcome this issue without making the changes directly in the apps (EPBCS / FCCS)?

Howdy, Stranger!
