Can I make email address a required field in employment flows?

Is it possible to make email address a required field in employment flows?

I tried to do this using Page Composer and it shows an asterisk (*) next to the field as if it is required but if the user simply skips the section, it lets him go to the next section without requiring to fill out the email section.
