Enforce format for DFF - Phone numbers and email

Finding more ways to enforce data format for Descriptive Flexfields.

For descriptive flexfields, is there a way to limit the format?

I know there are Value Data Types you can choose from (Character, Number, Date, Date/Time). What we are looking for would be a way to enforce for example, the text has to be in email format (****@xx.xx), or phone number (x-****-****-xxxx).

Any suggestions on how we could achieve this?
