How can the work schedule be removed?

Summary:

I have a work schedule in production that is assigned to no user so far. Some of the shifts used in the patter within the current work schedule I am trying to have removed, are assigned to other work schedules that are currently in use and assigned to employees.

How can I remove/end date a work schedule considering the fact that it is not assigned to anyone? I believe the issue comes from the fact that some shifts are assigned to other patterns/schedules currently used. I am unable to remove the shifts, without impacting other schedules, hence my question.
