Has anyone removed the value sets from out of box flexfields on the Base Transaction?

Replace out of box value sets on global segments on the CN_TP_Base_Transaction table

My client is looking to bring in city, state and item IDs into the base transactions in Incentive compensation but they don't want to maintain the product or geography tables within Oracle. We are looking to remove the value sets from these fields and replace them with text / number fields if possible without causing issues with the processing or other functionality

within Incentive Compensation.
