Ending a secondment and moving the Primary flag back to Subs assignment - Errors

When we are ending an employee's secondment and moving the Primary Flag back to the substantive post we are hitting errors (route cause is future dated changes on the employees record) - are other customers having this issue frequently too?

Further more, the recommendation to resolve is to delete all future dated changes manually, move the primary flag, then re-add the future dated changes. Are customers following this process? What challenges do you face in this process? Or are you following an alternative solution?
