How To Install 32-bit Packages on Systems Running 64-bit Versions of Oracle Linux

Sometimes, specific applications on a server using x86_64 based architecture will need to use 32-bit OS Libraries, even though the version of Linux running on the server is 64-bit. There are several 32-bit RPM packages available for install on all current x86_64 versions of Oracle Linux, including Oracle Linux 6 or higher which can be installed from the x86_64 channels for each Oracle Linux version available on the Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN).

As an example, both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of glibc can be installed on a system running the x86_64 version of Oracle Linux using yum, with the following commands installing the latest version of glibc available in the ULN channel the server is subscribed to, for both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of glibc:
