How ESS Job Parameters are mapped to BIP Data Model

I would like to know how ESS Job Parameters are mapped to the BIP Data Model? I have a BIP Data Model with some mandatory and optional parameters. I would like to use a custom ESS Job that calls this report and passes the parameters. My question is how do the Parameters defined on the ESS Job map to the BIP Data Model parameters? I have created the ESS Parameters using both User-defined LOV, and a Common Lookup definition, however when I provide these values into the ESS Job and attempt to run it I get an error return from
