Setup to prevent Planning from generating planned orders for a specific item/organization

Summary:

The ABC organization and the item XYZ are set up with the Planning Method attribute as "MRP Planning" and this item is creating planned orders in the Planning modules, we are looking for a way to prevent it from doing so.

Unfortunately, we're unable to modify the Planning Method attribute currently because it's used by other integration to load the Demand History data.

I haven't been able to find an alternative way to disable planning for this item so that it doesn't generate planned orders. Do you have any suggestions or ideas?
