HCM Cloud - Migrating configuration - how does your organization do it?

Summary:

Our organization is evaluating options for migrating HCM Configuration through environments (DEV > Test > UAT > Prod), or to re-implement configuration in Dev/Test after refresh.

We're keen to hear of other organisations experiences using ConfigSnapshot for migrations, or those using Oracle's Cloud deployment tools.

Content:

Our understanding is that configuration can be deployed by various methods depending on the nature of the change/module/project, with the options being:

A) Oracle Cloud deployment tools

  • Configuration Package
  • CSV Export & Import
  • Bulk Upload (HDL or File Upload)
  • Migration Set

B) Non-Oracle Cloud tools

  • ConfigSnapshot (by Rookery Software, Oracle Gold Partner)

Until now the majority of our configuration has been migrated manually. We are seeking to automate this process to deploy changes more quickly, reduce manual work, reduce errors and shorten our freeze period.
