How to reclaim space in .dbf file?

Summary:

After purging or cleanup activities, how to reclaim space in .dbf file at OS end?

Content (required):

At the time of cleanup activities we dropped 500 GB space of tables/ objects from Oracle database. However this space is got free in DB and it is not reclaimed at OS end.

Note: We done the Purge Recyclebin; as well.

  1. Do we need to alter the .dbf file? or
  2. What is the best practice we need to follow ? Can I get any documentation or steps to follow the same..
