OSMS: Software Source not Available to Managed Instance Group

Symptoms
Trying to add software sources to a Managed Instance group, when selecting the Action menu - Add software source, no sources are listed as available.
Cause
This is expected behavior when no default Software source was previously selected for some instances in the group.
When adding software sources to a group, the "available software sources" list it built from the common software sources available to each instance in the group.
The instance that has no software sources attached, will only have the base software sources available, whereas the other instances will only have child software sources available. As these two lists will have nothing in common, the resulting list is empty.
