Inactive Line managers transaction are failing

Summary:

Hello All,

When Employee initiate some transactions like Absence, Resignation then it goes to approval to Manager.

but if manager is inactive at the time of when employee initiates transaction or Line manager does not approve any transaction and then become inactive then transactions which are pending for approval with him/her gets failed.

This way HR getting difficult to manage such transactions, as these transactions need to cancelled and new transaction should be submitted by HR/Employee side.

When Line manager initiating Resignation ,we are not giving option to Line manger "Reassign Existing Reports"

Business is asking for a Solution, is there any way if we can auto assign pending transactions to Line managers manager.
