JNPE error with Reusable Mapping Component

Mappings having reusable mapping components throw a fatal validation error: JNPE at ReusableMappingComponent.findrmcattributeforsignatureattribute. Please check the Validation Results window for more information.

Content (required):

The reusable mapping components were inserted using ODI SDK. The physical diagram doesn't get generated due to this error. In most cases, manually deleting-inserting the reusable component and then synchronizing logical with physical resolves the issue but it doesn't work for all cases.
