Content (required):

In distribution world, if the order line (demand) does not have enough inventory (on-hand/supply), then it is considered backorder. Typically the demand requested date is within 1-2 days of order placement and on-hand is the main supply to be considered. The other supply like purchase order, once received, is then allocated to these backorders.

Oracle order line status in this situation is 'Scheduled' with reservation error. In distribution world, its backorder.

The Order on Backorder infolet once considers those orders having lines with status 'Backordered' - which happens when the shipping cannot ship full quantity.
