Item replacement

Hi

We have a scenario where we need to discontinue some items and replace with new items. For eg. Item A to be discontinued and Item B is created in place of item A. The users still try to use item A in the transactions (PO, Inventory). Is it possible to automatically suggest to use Item B when they punch in Item A or some kind of message so that they can use correct item.
