Any way to see how standard reports are configured so we can create a custom one that combines two?

We'd like to know if there's a way to create a custom report that essentially combines the standard "Onboarding Activities" and "Onboarding Activity Packets" reports into one - because they're standard reports there's no way to open them in edit mode and see how they were set up/configured. Is it possible to get some insight into how they each pull the data that's being displayed?
