    With the Classic Essbase Excel Add-In, you could Lock a block and then keep that lock until you clicked Unlock or Send. Is there a way to do this in PBCS?

    I'm trying to find out if there's a way to explicitly lock a block in PBCS. I'm not picky about how -- Smart View, Smart View VBA, EPM Automate, Groovy, anything.

    I had a situation where 5 calculations -- started many minutes apart -- ran much longer than expected. I suspect they hit locked blocks and were waiting on those locks to clear. These calculations did involve aggregations (and would have touched the same blocks) but the first calc was already long overdue to finish before the second one started. I am speculating that an explicit lock was granted and held because these calculations all finished within seconds of each other (3 hours after the first calc was started); presumably after the lock was released.
