Changing usernames/work email address time consuming?

Not sure we are doing it correct but we find that when one of our employees changes their e-mail address (perhaps change of last name for example) we find the process quite complicated:

Work Email Address: It doesn't seem possible to change this on the Manage Person screen - is this correct? Workaround, open Security Console and edit the work email address here

Username: When in security console, the username field is un-editable, so we have to go back to Person Management and edit under Manage User Account.

 

It would be easier if either:

Work Email address was editable in Manager Person so both could be updated in Person Management
