Require confirmation box at receipt classes and methods

When a require confirmation box is enabled at receipt classes and methods, while running automatic receipts i can see "Confirm Automatic Receipt Batch" screen with CONFIRM box enabled, but as per oracle documentation i understand that customer would be able to confirm and approve this receipt as this involves sending the receipts to your customers for review and approval, but where does the customer be able to see this and how it works whether through approval workflow or how ? Can somebody help here?
