Auto populate Planner Code based on Organization at the Item-org level

Is there a way to accomplish this in Oracle?

Content (required):

Each item in item master is associated to 300+ inventory orgs. Each inventory org has only 1 Planner (Planner codes have been defined in Manage Planners task in Supply Planning). Can we automatically populate the planner code in an item-org record once the item-org association is completed?

Defining and applying Org specific item templates is being considered. I wanted to understand if there is another way to accomplish this, as the # of item templates will be large.
