SOAP sync vs async

Summary:

Hi, please, could someone explain the difference between calling queryAllInventoryAsync and queryAllInventory operations from OIC invoke ? it get the same data, but I know they do something different.

Also, in general for other SOAP services it would be nice to elaborate regarding sync and async calls.
