UOM created in Manage Units of Measure task dont show up in Primary UOM attribute when creating item

Content (required):

We have defined a UOM in Manage Units of Measure task to be used as Primary Units of Measure for items.

But when creating the item, the drop down list for the Primary Units of Measure attribute does not have that UOM.

Because of this items conversion cannot be completed
