Can Endeca (Search) provide part number validation?

We currently use a home-grown API to validate part numbers. This makes search speeds an issue and assembling search results difficult as both the in-house API and Endeca must be queried.

Is it plausible for Endeca to learn our part number schema and validate/reject invalid part numbers? Or, can it be involved in another way to translate part numbers to search results?
