Is it possible to use use resource class rate schedule (labor) for project costing?

Summary:

I tested job rate schedule and it works fine for deriving time sheet rates, however I am trying to achieve the same with resource class rate schedule and import costs fails for missing rates

Content (required):

1- created a rate schedule for resource classes (setup a rate for Labor class)

2- attached the schedule to Project Plan

3- created time sheet and tried importing to project costs, it fails for missing cost rates

Can anyone confirm if it is only possible to use resource class rate schedules for planning only, and that it is not available for costing?

I saw this idea that was declined, but was wondering if there is anything new that would allow it to work:
